One site for shippers and carriers

A brokerage has two readers: shippers with freight to move, and carriers looking for loads to haul. We gave each its own page and its own way in, a quote form for shippers and carrier setup for carriers, so neither has to read past the other to get what they came for. The whole site runs dark, in the copper and steel of DNL's mark, over custom images of American equipment.

DNL's Shippers page: “Freight, quoted and covered.” over an open trailer, with the freight quote form under it. DNL's Carriers page: “Haul for DNL.” beside a truck's headlights on a wet road at night, and a Start carrier setup button.

A quote form that finds the city as you type

A shipper's quote starts with two places: where the freight picks up and where it delivers. Type the first letters of a town and the form lists the matching cities in the US and Canada, so every quote names a real place. Pick one and the form is ready for the next step. When the form is sent, it checks the phone number and both places again, and turns back anything DNL can't use before it reaches the inbox.

DNL's quote form on a phone: “Ashe” typed as the pickup location, and Asheville, NC listed first of the cities under it. The same form with Asheville, NC picked as the pickup location and its Next button ready.

Carrier setup, with the papers listed first

Carriers want two answers before they fill anything in: how they get paid, and what DNL asks of them. The Carriers page gives both up front, the pay terms and the bar to haul, one year in business with active MC authority. Setup then lists the papers to have ready, a W9 and an insurance certificate naming DNL among them, before the first field.

DNL's carrier setup: “Start carrier setup”, the papers to have ready (MC authority, W9, insurance certificate) and the fields for name, phone, business, email and MC number.

Copper on steel, carried to print

DNL's mark came to us as two flat image files: copper and steel crescents around the letters DNL. We rebuilt it as a vector file that stays sharp at any size, set its colors and type down in a brand guide, and made the company's business card in the same copper on brushed black. The card carries no one person's name, so it works for everyone at the company.

The cover of DNL's brand guide: the logo over the words “Brand guide” on black. The guide's Color page: six swatches, copper, silver, dark ground, steel, black and light, each with what it is for and its hex and RGB values.

The back of the card: the DNL Freight Solutions lockup, its services and dnlfs.com.The front of DNL's business card: the copper and steel mark over “Freight Solutions, LLC” on brushed black.
